Support Team Achilles CT
(Achilles International-Connecticut Chapter)
Raising awareness of and funds for athletes with disabilities
Achilles International, a non-profit organization headquartered in New York City, supports athletes with disabilities and medical conditions in mainstream athletic events. Achilles was founded in 1983 by Dick Traum, the first amputee to run the NYC Marathon. Achilles International-Connecticut is one of 70 Achilles Chapters around the world, and boasts a membership of athletes and volunteers from across the state.
Our mission is to empower individuals with disabilities to get active and challenge themselves through participation in road races and endurance events of all distances. Paired with an able-bodied guide, our athletes participate in events from fitness walks and 5K's to full and ultra marathons, obstacle races, and sprint triathlons to Ironman events! to read more about the Connecticut Chapter and for a full listing of our events.
Through your generous tax-deductible donation, you will help support Achilles International-Connecticut in numerous ways. For example, donations are used to sponsor athlete race registrations, travel expenses and/or help them maintain their adaptive racing equipment if cost is a barrier to participation.
